Crispy Tofu Lettuce Wraps

These Crispy Tofu Lettuce Wraps are an easy and flavorful vegetarian meal that’s full of crunchy vegetables, protein-packed crispy tofu, and a delicious hoisin-peanut sauce. The tofu is marinated with garlic and ginger, then lightly fried until golden and crispy. The lettuce wraps are then filled with the tofu, carrots, bell peppers, and bean sprouts, all tossed together in a delicious hoisin-peanut sauce. The result is an Asian-inspired meal that’s perfect for lunch or dinner and can be served with rice or noodles. Enjoy

Serves: 4  |  Preparation & Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

For Tofu preparation

200 gms Tofu
3 teaspoon soy sauce
1-2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted
2 teaspoon maple syrup
4-5 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons sesame oil


For Sauce
1/2 cup peanut butter
1-2 teaspoon soy sauce
1-2 teaspoon maple syrup
1-2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
2-3 teaspoon lime juice


For Wraps
Red Otter Farms Butter lettuce
1 cup thinly sliced / shredded vegetables – carrots, spring onion, red cabbage
Handful of fresh coriander

Instructions:

Step 1

Begin by pressing tofu. Wrap it in a clean cloth and put some weight on it. Press it for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Prepare the peanut sauce by mixing all the ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk to combine, add water to give it a creamy & smooth texture. Taste & adjust the flavors.

Step 3

Cut tofu into 3-4 inch cubes and put them in a large bowl. Add soy sauce, garlic chili sauce, maple syrup, sesame seeds and toss well. After 15 mins evenly coat each piece with cornstarch

Step 4

Heat the sesame oil in a pan and cook the tofu until golden brown on all the sides.

Step 5

Arrange the lettuce leaves on a platter, top with tofu and shredded veggies. Sprinkle some coriander leaves and serve with peanut sauce.
